Hagrama Mohilary Lays Foundation Stone for Masuwaghat Bridge. The bridge is set to be constructed at an estimated cost of RS 10 crore.
The Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) supremo and Bodoland Territorial Council chief Hagrama Mohilary on Sunday, Dec 21, laid the foundation stone for the Masuwaghat Bridge in Kokrajhar, Assam. The bridge is set to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 10 crore.
The people of Greater Duramari and Hekaipara villages in Kokrajhar have long been demanding for the construction of the Masuwaghat Bridge over the Gourang River. The proposed bridge will connect the Maspara area with Hekaipara and Duramari. The construction is expected to be completed within one and a half years.
While laying the foundation stone for the Masuwaghat Bridge, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary expressed his happiness in fulfilling the long-standing demand of the people. Hagrama also said that “the Hekaipara road, which will connect to the bridge, is in very bad condition, and will be repaired very soon.” “The engineers are working on the budget estimates for the road at the moment, and it will also be constructed very soon,” he added.
Furthermore, on the land patta issue, the BTC chief urged landowners to apply as soon as possible, noting that only 5,500 applications have been received so far, which is relatively low. Mohilary emphasized that people from all communities are eligible to apply.
In the first phase, land pattas will be distributed between January 10 and 15.
Hagrama Mohilary reiterated his statement, claiming that there is a political conspiracy behind the encroachment and destruction of forest land in the Ultapani forest area of Sikhina Jwhwlao National Park. He alleged that the motive behind these actions is to create unrest in the BTC and hinder its development.
