Bodo Women Writers’ Association: During the event, a total of 16 books by both new and senior women writers were officially released.
Under the initiative of the Bodo Women Writers Association, a book release programme featuring both new and senior women writers was held at the auditorium of the Bodo Department of Bodoland University, titled ‘Bor Aijo Lirgiri Afat in Kokrajhar of Assam on Sunday, Dec 21.
The book release event was organized under the leadership of Anju Basumatary, president of the Bodo Women Writers Association and Sahitya Akademi Award recipient, along with General Secretary Jacob Musahary.
During the event, a total of 16 books by both new and senior women writers were officially released.
The President of the Bodo Women Writers Association, Anju Basumatary, stated, “Out of the 16 books launched, three were written by new writers, and this is the first time their books are being released.” She also emphasized that the aim behind such book launch events is to contribute more to the preservation and promotion of Bodo culture and tradition. Anju further noted that the Writers Association is providing a platform for young writers who lack proper exposure, and the growth in this regard has been remarkable.
Meanwhile, Sahitya Akademi Award recipient Janil Kumar Brahma, while praising and congratulating the women writers, said, “Despite managing household responsibilities, these women have written such beautiful books, which is truly commendable.” Brahma further added that the names of these women will forever be etched in the history of Bodo culture.
The Sahitya Akademi Award recipient expressed his gratitude to the writers for their significant contribution to the art, culture, and language of the Bodo community. He praised their efforts, stating that they have made Bodo culture richer and brought pride to it on a global scale.
The books were jointly launched by Surath Narzary, president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha, and Janil Kumar Brahma, Sahitya Akademi Award winner and a prominent figure in Bodo language and literature.
