The deceased, identified as Parag Gogoi, was found dead at his friend’s residence at Boloma Tongani village in Teok
A sense of tension and mystery gripped Boloma Tongani village at Teok in Jorhat district of Assam following the discovery of a 35-year-old man’s body at his friend’s house on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Parag Gogoi.
Parag, according to local people, was invited by two of his friends, identified as Montu Chetia and Jintu Chetia, to attend a party on Monday night. The gathering, which reportedly involved the consumption of alcohol, took place at Montu Chetia’s residence.
However, the situation took a dark turn when Parag was found dead at the same location later in the night.
The incident has sparked outrage among residents of Tongani village with local residents alleging that a proliferation of illegal liquor dens in the area has been systematically destroying the social environment and leading to such tragic outcomes.
Villagers are now demanding a crackdown on these unauthorized establishments.
Upon receiving information, Teok Police arrived at the scene and recovered the body. It has since been sent to the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
While the circumstances remain suspicious, police officials have stated that a thorough investigation is ongoing, and the two friends present at the party are being questioned.
