Major Collision in Sribhumi: 2 Dead, 19 Injured
A horrific head-on collision between a dumper truck and a passenger “Traveller” vehicle in the Shrigauri area of Sribhumi district resulted in two fatalities and left 19 others struggling with injuries.
- The Victims: The deceased have been identified as Nirad Das and Tapan Biswas. Nirad Das succumbed to his injuries shortly after being taken to Shrigauri Hospital, while Tapan Biswas passed away while being transported to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH).
- The Incident: Reports indicate that the dumper truck was heading toward Sribhumi when it collided with the Traveller, which was arriving from Badarpur. The force of the impact was so severe that the passenger vehicle veered off the National Highway and overturned.
- Rescue Efforts: Local residents were the first to respond, pulling victims from the wreckage. While some were treated locally, the majority of the 19 injured were referred to SMCH due to the critical nature of their wounds.
- Traffic Impact: The accident caused a significant blockade on the highway as authorities worked to clear the mangled remains of the two vehicles.
Double Fatality in Moran
In a separate but equally tragic incident on the same day, two individuals lost their lives in the Moran region.
The accident took place near the Borluit Dhaba at Sepon Sakaliya. Details regarding the identities of the victims and the exact cause of this crash are still emerging, as local police continue their preliminary investigation at the site.
