The dense fog in Delhi and nearby areas has reduced visibility and affected normal movement of vehicles, trains and even flights
In the wake of a dense fog blanketing Delhi on Sunday, as many as 97 flights have been cancelled at the Delhi airport — including 48 arrivals and 49 departures — while over 200 flights have been delayed, reports have said.
Many States in North India have been experiencing a dense layer of fog every morning for the past few days which has reduced visibility and afecting normal movement of traffic.
More than 50 trains have been delayed following the fog and toxic smog.
“Fog conditions in parts of Northern India are affecting visibility and may lead to delays or changes in flight operations at select airports. Passengers are advised to check flight updates with their airlines through official channels and allow extra time for airport travel and formalities,” an advisory issued by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) read.
On the other hand, an advisory by Delhi Airport on its ‘X’ handle advised passengers to “consult” with their respective airlines for updated flight schedules but maintained that flight operations at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport “continue to be normal”.
“Operations at Delhi airport continue to be normal. For updated flight schedules, please consult your airline or visit the official airport website. We wish all passengers a safe and pleasant journey,” the advisory read.
