BJP is targeting a victory in all 28 seats of the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections. Chief Saha announced.
Signalling a high-stakes shift in Tripura’s political landscape, Chief Minister Manik Saha has announced that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is targeting a victory in all 28 seats of the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections.
The Chief Minister’s remarks have stirred the political pot, particularly as the TTAADC is currently governed by the TIPRA Motha Party, the BJP’s own ally in the state government.
National Ambition vs. Regional Rule
Speaking to reporters following a strategic organizational meeting led by State President Rajib Bhattacharya, CM Saha argued that the indigenous (Janajati) communities have been underserved by decades of regional party dominance.
“Meaningful and sustainable development in the autonomous district council areas is possible only when a national party comes to power. Under regional outfits, the Janajati people have not witnessed the level of progress they deserve.”
The Chief Minister emphasized that a national party like the BJP provides a direct bridge to mainstream development that regional players have failed to build.
Key Highlights of the BJP Strategy:
- The Target: Winning all 28 elective seats of the TTAADC.
- Alliance Status: CM Saha clarified that the current Assembly alliance with TIPRA Motha does not automatically extend to the council polls. No decision on a joint contest has been made.
- Groundwork: The party is focusng on “booth-level” strengthening to assess and solidify its organizational position.
- Outreach: The BJP claims growing support across all 19 Janajati communities and various sub-tribes in Tripura.
A Strained Alliance?
The Chief Minister’s “28-seat” target highlights a visible competitive friction within the ruling alliance. By labeling regional rule as a “stalling” factor for growth, the BJP is positioning itself as the primary alternative to its own partner on the council stage.
Saha also took a swipe at the opposition, accusing them of “distorting facts” and “presenting false narratives” to confuse tribal voters. He maintained that the BJP’s focus remains on the truth of its developmental track record.
As the tribal heartland of Tripura prepares for the polls, the BJP’s aggressive stance sets the stage for a complex, multi-cornered battle where ideological lines between “National” and “Regional” interests will be the central theme.
