Zubeen Garg Murder Case: Next hearing scheduled for February 13; court to hear SIT plea for seizure of accused’s properties on February 16
In a major development in the high-profile Zubeen Garg murder case, the District and Sessions Court, Kamrup (Metro), on Thursday rejected the bail applications of three accused — singer Amritprabha Mahanta and Zubeen Garg’s two personal security officers (PSOs), Paresh Baishya and Nandeswar Bora.
The defence counsels argued for the release of the accused, citing procedural grounds, but the court turned down the pleas after taking into account the seriousness of the offence and the ongoing investigation being carried out by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
SIT Seeks Attachment of Properties
Meanwhile, the SIT moved the court seeking attachment of properties allegedly linked to Siddharth Sharma, the late singer’s manager and one of the accused in the case.
The SIT has sought seizure of Mahavir Aqua water factory, owned by Sharma, as well as a flat at Orchid View Apartments in Fatasil Ambari. The court has fixed February 16 for hearing arguments on the property seizure application.
Next Hearing on February 13
The court has scheduled the next hearing in the murder case for February 13.
Reacting to the rejection of bail, Garima Saikia Garg, wife of Zubeen Garg, welcomed the court’s decision and reiterated her demand for strict judicial action.
“I am satisfied with the court’s order. No accused involved in this murder should be granted bail. Justice must be ensured and those responsible must remain behind bars,” she said.
