Two Assam Men Killed as Vehicle Plunges into Gorge in Arunachal’s Lower Dibang Valley
Two men from Assam lost their lives after the vehicle they were travelling in plunged into a deep gorge in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Dibang Valley district, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Manoj Shah and Tank Bahadur Chetry, both residents of Tinsukia district in Assam.
According to police inputs, the two were travelling towards Anini with goods from a private company on January 25. When they failed to return home for three consecutive days, their family members grew concerned and lodged a missing persons complaint at the Tinsukia Sadar Police Station on Monday.
During the investigation, police tracked the vehicle’s GPS system along with the mobile phone locations of the victims. The data indicated that the vehicle was last active near a road in the Hunli area beyond Myodia.
A police team later reached the location and discovered the vehicle deep inside a forest after it had plunged into a gorge. The bodies of the two occupants were found at the spot.
Authorities said efforts are currently underway to recover the bodies from the gorge, and further investigation into the incident is in progress.
