Guwahati Sex Racket Busted: Coordinated raids across Panbazar, Geetanagar, Manipuri Basti and Rajgarh lead to multiple arrests; probe on to trace wider network
In a major operation against an alleged sex racket, Guwahati Police on Wednesday conducted simultaneous raids at five spa and beauty salons across different parts of the city, arresting 10 accused and rescuing 13 women.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police teams carried out searches at multiple locations, including Panbazar, Geetanagar, Manipuri Basti and Rajgarh.
At Bhargav Hair Beauty Spa and Unisex Salon in Panbazar, two persons were arrested and three women were rescued. Five accused were taken into custody from Mou Spa and Beauty Salon in Geetanagar.
Police also raided Bliss Spa Unisex Salon in Manipuri Basti, where two individuals were arrested. At Divya Beauty Studio, also located in Manipuri Basti, the owner managed to escape; however, three women were rescued during the operation.
In Rajgarh, police raided Colours Spa and Beauty Salon and arrested the owner for his alleged involvement in the racket.
Senior police officials said further investigation is underway to track down the absconding accused and to uncover the larger network suspected to be operating behind the illegal activities.
