UKNA cadres fled in haste after detecting the movement of Para SF; large cache of explosives and weapons recovered in joint operation in Churachandpur
In a significant counter-insurgency operation, security forces in Manipur raided and dismantled an abandoned training camp of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA) in the Kolchung area under Henglep Sub-Division of Churachandpur district.
The joint operation was launched on January 16 and 17 following specific intelligence inputs and was carried out by troops from 31 and 36 Assam Rifles, along with personnel from 11 Para (Special Forces).
According to security sources, UKNA cadres abandoned the camp in a hurried and disorganized manner after spotting the advancing Para SF team. The militants fled the area, leaving behind weapons, explosives, and other military equipment.
Subsequently, security forces destroyed the camp infrastructure and conducted an extensive search of the area, leading to the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and explosives. The seized items included fifteen improvised explosive devices (IEDs) with explosives, eight country-made single-barrel rifles, three 9mm country-made Colt Machine Guns (CMGs), and one 51mm mortar bomb.
In addition, uniforms, boots, belts, and other military-grade supplies were also recovered from the site.
Security agencies stated that the operation has dealt a major blow to militant activities in the region and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and stability in Manipur through sustained intelligence-based operations.
