Vote Vibe’s StateVibe opinion poll indicates strong public backing for a second term for Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, with high approval across most social groups.
Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has emerged as the most preferred candidate for the state’s top post in a pre-election opinion poll conducted by Vote Vibe under its StateVibe survey series.
The survey findings show that a majority of Assam’s population favours Dr Sarma continuing as Chief Minister, underlining sustained public support for the incumbent leader ahead of the next Assembly elections. His popularity cuts across multiple ethnic, social, and demographic groups.
According to the poll, Dr Sarma is the preferred choice for 66.75 per cent of Hindu respondents. In comparison, Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi secured the support of 25 per cent of Hindu voters. Other political figures—Badruddin Ajmal, Akhil Gogoi, and Hagrama Mohilary—together accounted for only 8.25 per cent of the overall preference share.
The survey also reflects broad approval of the BJP-led NDA government’s performance in the state. Around 58 per cent of respondents expressed satisfaction with the functioning of the current Assam government, rating its performance as either “Excellent” or “Good”.
Dr Sarma continues to enjoy a decisive lead among General, OBC, SC, and ST communities. However, within the Muslim community, Gaurav Gogoi emerged as the preferred Chief Ministerial face, with 79 per cent of respondents backing him for the top post.
Approval ratings were notably higher among older age groups as well as among respondents from SC, ST, OBC, and General categories, indicating a strong base of support for the BJP-led state government across key voter segments.
