Affordable, non-AC sleeper-class trains to connect Assam with Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, offering modern amenities and improved comfort.
Indian Railways is set to further strengthen Assam’s rail connectivity with the rest of the country by introducing two new Amrit Bharat Express trains on the Guwahati–Rohtak (Haryana) and Dibrugarh–Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) routes.
Designed to provide modern, comfortable, and affordable long-distance travel, the upcoming services will pass through densely populated states such as Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, easing pressure on existing train services while improving passenger experience.
The Amrit Bharat Express trains will offer non-AC sleeper-class travel at highly economical fares—approximately Rs 500 per 1,000 kilometres, with proportionately lower fares for short- and medium-distance journeys. The initiative is expected to significantly benefit passengers from Assam and the wider Northeast, improving access to major destinations across north and central India.
Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the introduction of the new trains through a post on social media platform X.
Notably, 30 Amrit Bharat Express trains were first launched in December 2023, marking a major step towards upgrading non-AC travel. The addition of these two new services will further expand rail connectivity from the eastern and sub-Himalayan regions to key parts of the country.
Passengers aboard the Amrit Bharat Express will enjoy a range of modern amenities, including foldable snack tables, mobile and bottle holders, radium-lit floor strips, comfortable seating and berths, upgraded toilets with electro-pneumatic flushing, fire suppression systems, fast-charging points, pantry cars, and special provisions for divyangjan passengers—making long-distance travel safer and more comfortable.
