Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a number of other important decisions during the ‘Notun Dinor Alap’ interaction, his customary new year press conference
Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday (Jan 1) announced a special Bihu gift for the 40 lakh women Orunodoi beneficiaries of the State during his customary New Year media briefing.
Chief Minister Dr Sarma announced that every women beneficiary who have been availing Rs 1,250 per month under the direct bank transfer scheme will each get Rs 8,000 on February 20 which, he said, will be a “special Bihu gift for mothers and sisters of the State”.
“A big news for over 37 lakh mothers and sisters of Assam. On February 20, all #Orunodoi beneficiaries will get an advance Bohag Bihu gift of ₹8,000 to boost their livelihoods. ₹5,000 for Orunodoi from Jan-April and a special ₹3,000 Bihu gift. Another promise fulfilled,” Chief Minister Dr Sarma wrote on ‘X’.
Meanwhile, women across Assam have expressed satisfaction over the announcement and have thanked Chief Minister Dr Sarma for the special Bihu gift.
“This is a very big announcement. We welcome it since it will help us in celebrating Bihu in an even grand way. Mama’s gift of Rs 8,000 will help us in gifting clothes to our children besides also helping us celebrate Rongali Bihu with pomp and grandeur,” a woman Orunodoi beneficiary told News Live in Kaziranga.
Chief Minister Dr Sarma also announced a number of other important decisions during the ‘Notun Dinor Alap’ interaction.
He also conveyed new year greetings to the people of Assam.
