Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Batadrava Than Redevelopment Project will remain etched in the annals of Assam’s history not just for a year or two but for decades and centuries
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday inaugurated the 227-crore-rupee Batadrava Than Redevelopment Project and termed it a “deeply auspicious moment” while also stating that day will always standout as “one of the most fulfilling days” of his life.
The Union Home Minister, who had arrived in Guwahati earlier in the morning after being forced to reschedule his visit to the State due to heavy fog, headed straight to Bordua in Nagaon district where he dedicated the Batadrava Than Redevelopment Project to the people.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union Home Minister said that the Batadrava Than Redevelopment Project will remain etched in the annals of Assam’s history not just for a year or two but for decades and centuries.
“This redevelopment includes promotion of Neo-Vaishnavism and installation of spiritual symbols of Srimad Bhagavad. I had the honour of laying the foundation stone of the project on December 26, 2020, and today I am delighted to inaugurate it,” Home Minister Shah said.
“This is not just a place of worship but a living sign of Assamese harmony…All communities come here to take forward the ‘nav-vaishnav dharma’,” he added.
“The BJP resolves to remove all infiltrators from the entire country…Was it right that Bangladeshi infiltrators were there at this place of Sankardeva? I congratulate Himanta Biswa Sarma for removing the infiltrators from here and re-establishing the site Namghar. More than one lakh bighas of land has been freed from infiltrators..Congress ruled for so many years, but it did not do anything for those who gave their lives for the Assam movement…,” he further said.
“The BJP resolves to remove all infiltrators from the entire country. Was it right that Bangladeshi infiltrators were there at this place of Sankardeva? I congratulate Himanta Biswa Sarma for removing the infiltrators from here and re-establishing the Namghar,” he said.
“Today, where this pious Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev Abirbhav Kshetra has come up was once encroached upon. The BJP Govt not only freed the holy Batadrava Than but over 480 acres of land across Assam,” Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
“The collective will of every Sanatani in Assam scripts history today. With the inauguration of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva Abirbhav Kshetra by Amit Shah ji, we have resorted the glory of the birthplace of Assam’s greatest saint- Srimanta Sankardev Gurujona,” he wrote on ‘X’.
Meanwhile, the Union Home Minister later in the evening paid homage to the martyrs of the historic Assam Agitation at the newly-constructed Swahid Smarak Kshetra at Paschim Boragaon in Guwahati.
After that he inaugurated the new office of the Guwahati Police Commissionerate along with the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) to bolster the city’s security.
Before winding up his visit, the Union Home Minister inaugurated the Jyoti Bishnu Cultural Complex, the 5,000-seater world-class auditorium, in Guwahati.
