The Government of Assam stated in an order that mobile internet services were restored with improvement in the law-and-order-situation in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts
The Government of Assam has restored mobile internet and data services in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts from 8 am today (Dec 28), an order issued by the Political Department of the Government of Assam stated.
Mobile internet services were suspended on Dec 23 following violence that broke out at Kheroni and Dongkamukam areas in West Karbi Anglong over the issue of encroachment of PGR-VGR land and the demand for eviction drives to vacate the encroached areas from illegal occupation.
A notification issued by the government stated that internet/mobile data services in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts were suspended “in view of a serious law and order situation”.
The order stated that as the law and order situation has “since improved and normalised”, the government has directed all mobile service providers operating in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts “to restore internet/mobile data services with effect from 8:00 am on 28/12/2025.”
