Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday began the second day of his 2-day visit to Assam by interacting with 25 exam warriors at a special interactive session of his ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ and shared tips to destress students appearing in their upcoming board examinations.
The special interactive session, part of the ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ programme Prime Minister Modi holds with students preparing for their board examinations, was held at the MV Charaidew – II, a 3-level cruise ship.
Twenty-five meritorious students from government, private, and residential schools of Assam took part in the programme, as they interacted with PM Narendra Modi on various examination related issues.
It was Prime Minister Modi’s first programme of the day as he reached the Guwahati Gateway Terminal, the newly-developed Inland Water Transport (IWT) facility recently inaugurated by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
He then made his way to the vessel where he interacted with the students for around an hour.
The students attending the session were selected from various districts of Assam, including Kamrup Metropolitan, Morigaon, Dibrugarh, Cachar, Sribhumi, Baksa, Dima Hasao, Kokrajhar, Golaghat, Karbi Anglong and Nalbari and represented a mix of government, residential and private schools.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi then went to the newly-built Swahid Smarak Stambha, the memorial built to honour the sacrifice of 860 martyrs who laid down their lives during the six-year Assam Movement.
Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone of the new nano-urea plant at Namrup in Dibrugarh district where he will also address another massive public rally before flying back to New Delhi later in the evening.
Earlier on Saturday, Prime Minister Modi arrived in Guwahati on Saturday on a 2-day visit to Assam and inaugurated the new terminal building of the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.
Prime Minister Modi also unveiled a statue of Bharat Ratna Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi at the entrance of the new terminal complex besides paying tribute to the first Chief Minister of Assam.
The new terminal which is also the country’s first nature-themed airport draws inspiration from Assam’s biodiversity and cultural heritage under the theme “Bamboo Orchids”.
The new terminal incorporates extensive use of locally sourced bamboo, Kaziranga-inspired landscaping, japi motifs, rhino symbolism and orchid-themed architectural elements.
A “Sky Forest” with nearly one lakh indigenous plants has also been created to provide passengers with a distinctive arrival experience along with advanced passenger-friendly features such as DigiYatra enabled contactless travel, automated baggage handling, full-body scanners and AI-driven airport operations which have been integrated to enhance efficiency and security.
He also attended a road show from the airport to the State BJP headquarters and became the first Prime Minister ever to visit the party head-office in Guwahati.
