Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Guwahati on a 2-day visit to Assam on Saturday afternoon
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that he and his government has been correcting mistakes made by the Congress party in Assam and the Northeast for several decades.
Prime Minister Modi, who arrived in Guwahati for a 2-day visit to Assam, said this while addressing a massive public rally after inaugurating the swanky new terminal of the Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport in Guwahati.
Prime Minister Modi took on the Congress party head-on, attacking them for “neglecting” Assam and the northeast when it was in power and claimed that he and his government has been correcting “mistakes” the grand old party kept making in the region for decades.
Prime Minister Modi said that for the Congress governments “development of Assam and the northeast was never on their agenda” and added that even people in power during Congress rule would say who goes to the region and what is the need for better infrastructure, railways, highways and airports in the Northeast.
“Because of this mentality, the Congress ignored Assam and the Northeast for several decades. Modi is rectifying the mistakes the Congress made in the past 6-7 decades one by one,” he said.
He further said that like the Brahmaputra, development also “flows unabated” in Assam under BJP’s double-engine government.
