Ishan Kishan makes history with a stunning century as Jharkhand win their first Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title after a dominant final performance.
Ishan Kishan produced a magical performance to lead Jharkhand to their first-ever Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title, creating history in the process. In a high-scoring final played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Jharkhand defeated Haryana by a huge margin of 69 runs. The match will be remembered for Kishan’s fearless batting and the team’s all-round dominance on the big stage.
After Haryana captain Ankit Kumar chose to bowl first, Jharkhand faced an early setback when Virat Singh was dismissed in the opening over. However, Ishan Kishan and Kumar Kushagra changed the game completely with a powerful partnership. Kishan looked confident from the start and took charge of the innings, attacking the bowlers without fear and keeping the scoreboard moving fast.
Ishan Kishan smashed a breathtaking century off just 45 balls and finished with 101 runs. His innings included 10 massive sixes and six fours, sending the ball to all corners of the ground. Kushagra supported him brilliantly with a quick 81 runs from 38 balls, making the Haryana bowlers struggle under pressure throughout the middle overs.
With this knock, Ishan Kishan achieved a massive feat. He became only the second batter to score a century in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final and the first captain to do so. He also set the record for hitting the most sixes in a SMAT final innings, further proving his power-hitting ability in white-ball cricket.
Jharkhand’s total became even more special with late fireworks from Anukul Roy and Robin Minz. The team posted a massive 262 for 3, which is the highest-ever total in a T20 tournament final. Haryana’s bowlers, including leading wicket-taker Anshul Kamboj, found it difficult to control the run flow on a batting-friendly pitch.
Chasing a huge target of 264, Haryana had a poor start as they lost two wickets in the very first over. Yashvardhan Dalal tried to fight back with a fast half-century, while Nishant Sindhu added some runs, but the required rate kept climbing. Jharkhand bowlers stayed calm and struck at regular intervals.
Anukul Roy played a key role with the ball by taking important wickets in one over, which completely shifted the momentum. Haryana’s batting collapsed soon after, and they were bowled out for 193. Jharkhand sealed a memorable win and lifted the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for the first time in their history.
For Ishan Kishan, this century was his fifth in the tournament, equalling the record for the most hundreds in SMAT history. The performance sent a strong message to selectors and fans, showing that he remains one of India’s most explosive and match-winning batters in domestic cricket.
