Pradyot Debbarma described NCP leader Hasnat Abdullah’s “Seven Sisters will be separated from India,” remark as “distressing and inflammatory.”
Tripura royal scion and Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Debbarma has reacted strongly to a recent statement by a Bangladesh leader threatening to separate the Northeast from India.
Debbarma described National Citizen Party (NCP) leader Hasnat Abdullah’s “Seven Sisters will be separated from India,” remark as “distressing and inflammatory.”
Pradyot Debbarma urged the Government of India to give the people of the Northeast a day’s time to collectively demonstrate their sentiments towards Bangladesh.
“The NCP leader Hasnat Abdullah’s comments on cutting off the 7 sisters are distressing and inflammatory. I request the government of India to provide us a day’s time to demonstrate the sentiments of Northeast Indians towards Bangladeshis,” Pradyot Debbarma posted on X.

His remarks come amid growing concern over provocative statements made by political figures across the border, with leaders in the Northeast calling for a firm and united response.
Addressing a gathering at Dhaka’s Central Shaheed Minar on Monday, Abdullah threatened that Dhaka would shelter forces hostile to Delhi and help sever India’s “seven sisters”.
Reacting to Abdullah’s remarks, India on Tuesday summoned Bangladesh’s High Commissioner, M Riaz Hamidullah, to convey serious concerns over the security of the Indian High Commission in Dhaka following a threat received by Indian authorities.
The move reflects heightened diplomatic unease amid a series of inflammatory statements by a Bangladeshi political leader.
