Delhi-Agra Expressway accident in Mathura leaves 4 dead and 25 injured as dense fog causes a massive multi-vehicle pile-up involving buses and cars.
Early Tuesday morning turned tragic on the Delhi-Agra Expressway as dense fog caused a massive accident in Mathura, claiming four lives and leaving at least 25 people injured. The Delhi-Agra Expressway accident happened when visibility dropped sharply, making it difficult for drivers to see the road ahead. As a result, seven buses and three cars crashed into each other, creating chaos and panic among passengers.
According to officials, the impact of the collision was so severe that some vehicles caught fire. People trapped inside struggled to escape as flames spread, leading to the deaths of four individuals who were burnt alive. Many injured passengers were quickly pulled out by rescue teams and rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar confirmed the incident and explained the cause behind the crash. While speaking to reporters, he said, “At least four people were killed and 25 others were injured in a major road accident on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura this Tuesday morning. The collision, involving seven buses and three cars, occurred due to dense fog.” He added that poor visibility played a major role in the accident.
Rescue teams from the fire department, police, and local administration reached the spot soon after receiving information. SSP Kumar further said, “As soon as the news reached us, teams from our fire service, local police, and local administration were immediately dispatched to the scene.” He confirmed that search and rescue operations were almost complete and traffic clearance work was underway.
District Magistrate of Mathura, Chandra Prakash Singh, called the incident extremely unfortunate and assured full support to the victims. He told reporters, “This is a very unfortunate incident. We have recovered the bodies of the four people who were killed in the accident.” He also confirmed that more than 12 fire tenders and 14 ambulances were used during rescue work.
Providing relief updates, the DM said, “We can confirm that none of them are seriously injured, and they are all reported to be out of danger.” Injured passengers were taken to C.H.C. Baldev and the District Hospital, while others were sent home using government vehicles.
The Delhi-Agra Expressway accident comes just a day after another deadly fog-related crash on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, raising serious concerns about road safety during winter fog. Authorities have urged drivers to remain extra cautious, reduce speed, and avoid travel during heavy fog conditions to prevent such tragic incidents.
