Husband brutally kills his wife late night with a sharp weapon over domestic disputes.
In a chilling incident from Lekhapani in the Tinsukia district of Assam, a domestic dispute turned into a horrifying tragedy, as a husband brutally killed his wife late night on Saturday with a sharp weapon.
The horrific incident has sent shockwaves through the entire area, leaving local residents both bewildered and deeply unsettled.
The crime took place in Rana village, under Udaypur area of Lekhapani Police Station’s jurisdiction.
The deceased woman has been identified as 40-year-old Nita Chhetri.
Upon receiving specific information, Lekhapani police reached the spot and began an investigation. According to reports, the accused locked the body in the house’s prayer room after the murder and then fled.
The accused fled the scene after committing the murder, but later he surrendered at the Jagun police outpost. The accused husband has been identified as Devi Bahadur Chhetri.
The police are interrogating the accused and investigating the reasons behind the murder.
Notably, Tinsukia district has been making headlines recently, as last month, a revered head monk of the Inthem Buddhist monastery was brutally murdered. His lifeless body was found in his room, with a blood-stained axe lying next to him. The police have since recovered the body and are investigating the chilling crime.
