A total of 8,31,648 voters are eligible to vote, 7,59,210 for the Arunachal panchayat elections and 72,438 for the municipal elections.
The campaign for the Arunachal Panchayat and Municipal elections formally ended at 4 pm on Friday, ushering in the mandatory silence period ahead of polling. The State Election Commission has urged political parties, candidates and voters to cooperate fully and uphold the sanctity of the democratic process during the final phase before voting day.
Arunachal Pradesh will go to the polls on December 15 in what will be the 12th panchayat election since the NEFA Panchayat Regulation of 1967 and the third municipal election for the state’s only two civic bodies, Itanagar and Pasighat.
The counting of votes is scheduled for 20 December.
The elections will cover local governance units, including 27 Zilla Parishads, comprising 245 constituencies, and 2,103 Gram Panchayats comprising 8,181 constituencies. The Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) has 20 wards, while the Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC) has eight wards.

Several political parties are in the fray, including the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party), NCP(Nationalist Congress Party), PPA (People Party of Arunachal Pradesh), LJP (Lok Janshakti Party), AAP (Aam Aadmi Party), RPI (Republican Party Of India ), and NPP (Nationalist People’s Party), along with one independent candidate.
