Tripura: With no one to earn, the woman was forced to step out of her home to beg so that she could feed her husband and the two children.
In the heart of Tripura’s most secure zone, a mother begging for food lost her one-year-old child.
The incident happened just metres away from the Chief Minister’s residence. A desperate mother was looking for food when she lost her infant in an area guarded round-the-clock because the incident happened not just where the CM’s residence is, but it also houses the official residences of Tripura ministers – clearly a high security zone with a lot of police presence.
The helpless woman was forced to beg as her husband is bedridden. With no one to earn, the woman was forced to step out of her home to beg so that she could feed her husband and the two children.
She had stepped out with her two children to beg and that is when the incident happened. The incident took place yesterday evening, when the woman was sitting near the Shishu Bihar School in the high security area with her two children by her side.
The woman identified as Dipali Shil, said she had no choice but to beg as her husband, Raj, who worked as a shop helper, had been bedridden and was unable to earn. She had briefly left her children near the school to use a public restroom. On returning, her elder son told her that a woman had taken the younger child away in an auto-rickshaw.
Dipali, in shock was weeping inconsolably, while her elder child cried beside her. Locals quickly informed the police, prompting an urgent search for the missing toddler.
Police said a city-wide search has been launched to trace the missing boy. CCTV footage from the neighbourhood is being analysed to identify the woman and track the auto-rickshaw’s route. As of now, there have been no breakthroughs, no arrests, and the child is yet to be found.
The shocking disappearance has triggered widespread concern about law and order in Agartala, especially in supposedly secure areas. Authorities have assured the public that every possible effort is being made to locate the child at the earliest, but anxiety continues to grow as hours pass without answers.
