President Droupadi Murmu is set to visit Manipur for the first time for two-days starting December 11.
During her visit, President Murmu will attend the 86th Nupi Lal Day observance at the Nupi Lal Complex in Imphal on December 11.
The event commemorates the unparalleled courage and sacrifice of Manipuri women who stood up to and fought colonial rule.
According to sources, the President will meet Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, interact with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) affected by the recent ethnic violence, and address a public gathering at the City Convention Centre in Imphal.
Security forces have intensified vigilance across Imphal ahead of her visit, officials were seen on the ground making extensive preparations to welcome President Droupadi Murmu to the state.
