Over 25,000 western music lovers thronged Guwahati as American rapper Post Malone performed at a historic concert in the Assam capital city
American singer and rapper Post Malone performed in Guwahati on December 8 with over twenty-five thousand people — including fans and followers from other countries such as the USA and the UK along with western music lovers from other States of the Northeast — enjoying the first mega concert involving an international star in the Assam capital.
Malone, a nine-time diamond-certified and Grammy-nominated rapper, belted out one hit after another as fans danced to the beats of his music making the night a truly memorable one not just for them but for Guwahati which took a giant step towards making a name for itself as a venue for music concerts involving international stars, and the State government’s efforts to build a stronger concert economy.
“He is a rockstar, a true rockstar. I am from England. I love Post Malone. Guwahati is a great city; the people are so nice, it’s clean. I am so happy to be here. Enjoyed the concert and it was great. To watch his concert in Guwahati was one of the reasons why we are here,” a young woman fan from Manchester, who flew down to Guwahati to watch Malone perform live, told News Live.
As the night grew cold, the rapper, born Austin Richard Post who later became professionally famous as Post Malone, raised the temperature with his foot-tapping music, sending the 25-thousand-odd crowd into frenzy.
The American rapper also paid tributes to heartthrob Zubeen Garg during his performance saying he felt “great to be in the land of the legendary Zubeen Garg”.
Loud cheers followed from fans, many of whom are still mourning the loss of their “beloved Zubeen Da”, as they expressed their gratitude to the internationally-famous rapper for remembering the heartthrob during his maiden performance in Assam.
Earlier in the day, all roads seemed to be leading to the Veterinary College playground at Khanapara, Guwahati, as the red carpet was rolled out to the Grammy-nominated singer for his much-anticipated concert in the Assam capital city.
