Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to lay the foundation stone for Ammonia–Urea Complex Project on December 21.
The Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL) and Aurobindo Fertilizer & Chemicals Corporation Limited (AVFCCL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enable the proposed Ammonia–Urea Complex within the existing premises of BVFCL, Namrup.
The AVFCCL is a newly incorporated joint venture company established to build and operate the new Ammonia–Urea Complex Project.
The MoU was signed in the presense of Mohan Raj Shetty, Chairman & Managing Director of BVFCL, and Siba Prasad Mohanty, Managing Director of AVFCCL, along with representatives from both organizations.
Senior officials from Projects & Development India Limited (PDIL), the implementing partner for the AVFCCL project, were also present.
The MoU outlines the framework for access, use and management of the identified land and sets out the respective roles, responsibilities and safeguards agreed between the two companies as they move towards implementation of the project.

Once established, the AVFCCL facility is expected to become the largest urea-producing unit in the Northeast, significantly strengthening fertilizer availability in the region, supporting farmers, and contributing to industrial and economic growth in Assam and the Northeastern states.
