On November 26, Arunachal’s advocate Penka lodged an FIR in Police Station Yazali, with various sections applied.
Taba Penka, an advocate, claims there is double enrollment in Arunachal’s Keyi Panyor district, Ziro 1 Pitapool ZP constituency, specifically in the Deed Gram Panchayat segment.
Two candidates are contesting in the upcoming election, including Taba Pera Chukhu, who has been double-enrolled due to her marriage.
Both candidates belong to the same family, and Taba Pera Chukhu has shifted to the same panchayat, which seems to be the reason for the double enrollment.
According to Rules 108 and 109 of the Arunachal Pradesh Panchayat Act, a person can only be enrolled in one place, and enrolling in multiple places violates these rules, causing disunity and disharmony.
On November 26, advocate Penka lodged an FIR in Police Station Yazali, with various sections applied.
Penka also appealed to the Yazali police, asking them to provide updates about the lodged FIR.
He also informed the returning officer about the double enrollment issue, but he has stated that the RO has not been responsive, allowing candidates with improper documents to contest. Penka believes the RO is not doing their job properly and is requesting the RO to rethink their decision.
Penka then approached the District Commissioner and the District Election Commission regarding the double enrollment issue. The RO directed him to file a complaint with the State Election Commission, which Penka did on November 29.
