Rohit Sharma aims for a T20 comeback in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy after retiring from T20Is, showing his love for cricket and strong form ahead of domestic tournaments.
Almost a year after retiring from T20Is, Rohit Sharma is making headlines with a shocking announcement. The Mumbai Cricket Association confirmed that Rohit has expressed his desire to play in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy knockout matches from December 12-18 in Indore.
Rohit retired from T20 internationals after the 2024 World Cup but has been in phenomenal form since returning to international cricket in November. He scored a century and a fifty in Australia, followed by a fifty in the first ODI against South Africa. His performance shows he still has the hunger and skill to excel in T20 cricket.
The Mumbai team, which has already won all four games of Elite Group A, is ready for the knockouts. “Rohit has expressed his desire to play for Mumbai in the knockouts of SMAT,” a source from the Mumbai Cricket Association told TOI.
Rohit will also take part in the Vijay Hazare Trophy starting December 24, alongside Virat Kohli, who is expected to play for Delhi. A BCCI official clarified, “Nobody has forced them to return to the domestic circuit. Both Rohit and Kohli have made themselves available for the Vijay Hazare Trophy on their own accord.”
Fans are thrilled to see Rohit back in action. His T20 comeback not only strengthens Mumbai’s chances but also gives young players a chance to learn from one of the finest batsmen in the world. With his current form, Rohit Sharma’s return promises exciting cricket in the domestic season ahead.
