Laltlanzova Conferred Jeevan Raksha Padak Award 2025
Laltlanzova of Mizoram was conferred the Jeevan Raksha Padak Award 2025 today. He was given the bravery award by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for saving a man from drowning in 2024, at Dulte village in Khawzawl district.
The award consists of a bravery medal, citation, and a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000. It was handed over to Laltlanzova by Mizoram Home Minister K. Sapdanga at a ceremony held at his office in Aizawl.
On September 7, 2024, upon learning that a man had fallen into a water-filled pit at Dilmawi estimated to be 50 feet deep, Laltlanzova, who hails from Tlangsam, Champhai district, immediately entered the water and rescued the victim, totally ignoring his personal safety.
Presenting the award to him, Home Minister K. Sapdanga described Mizo people as a community known for courage and selflessness.
He said that Mizo culture has always upheld “thian chhan thih ngam” the spirit of sacrificing one’s own safety to save others—and expressed pride that Mizoram continues to produce brave individuals whose actions are recognised at the national level.
He encouraged the younger generation to carry forward this tradition of courage, compassion, and readiness to help others.
Champhai Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Aaquib, Joint Secretary (NP) V. Lalduhzuala and Under Secretary Lalnunmawia Chhangte, who handled the nomination process, and Home Department Superintendent F. Zodinpuia praised Laltlanzova’s heroic deed, saying his bravery brought honour to both his district and the Mizo community.
