Residents of Khamun Bokotialsuk under Bokota sub-division of Demow in Assam’s Sivasagar district and its adjoining villages heaved a sigh of relief after a leopard, which was creating a reign of terror in the area, was finally caged by the Forest Department.
The leopard had reportedly attacked and killed a number of cattle after entering into the villages.
The Forest Department was informed about it following which a cage was set with a goat as live bait.
Although the cage was set almost two weeks ago, the big cat had kept away from it and villagers thought it will never fall into the trap.
However, their prayers were answered as it was finally caged this morning.
Meanwhile, people from nearby villagers made a beeline to Bokotialsuk to get a glimpse of the caged leopard.
